Bulgarian yogurt has a particularly good reputation among gourmets. This is based both on the country's ancient tradition of yogurt production and on the excellent quality of the corresponding products, which differs significantly from the industrially produced yogurts in Central Europe. Historians even suggest that the Southeastern Balkans is the region where yogurt was first produced. The Protobulgarians, a people of nomadic sheep and goat herders who migrated from Central Asia, are said to have been the first to be able to preserve their staple food, milk, by fermentation. Over the centuries, the production methods have been improved - and so has the quality. This Original Bulgarian Goat's Milk Yogurt from Josi is an excellent example of this.

It is made from carefully selected goat's milk according to a traditional recipe. Its fat content of 3.2 percent gives it a pleasantly creamy consistency. Its taste is characterized by a particular freshness, coupled with a mild, light acidity and the pleasant, characteristic aroma.

It can be enjoyed - as is customary in Bulgaria - with almost any meal. It is especially popular as a dessert with walnuts and honey, but also as a component of hearty and spicy dishes with vegetables and grilled meat.
