Product description

Grozden Muskatova Rakija - a balanced rakia with full aroma.
Wines from Misket Cherven are straw yellow in color and are characterized by a light buoyancy with low acidity. What is not always advantageous for wine is optimal for rakia. In the golden yellow Grozden Muskatova Rakija, the aromas are concentrated without developing a disturbing austerity. On the contrary, a light-footed playfulness is created with a fine fragrance and aromas that are as gentle as they are pleasantly balanced. Thanks to three months of aging in oak barrels, accents of vanilla and oak are added. Thus, the Grozden Muskatova Rakija inspires on the one hand by its traditional way of making and on the other hand by its harmoniously soft character, which remains on the tongue for a long time due to a pronounced reverberation.

In memory of old Rakia traditions
Indeed, an outstanding feature of Grozden Muskatova Rakija is that it is intended to recall the early days of Vinarska Izba-LVK Grozden and to keep in mind the knowledge of traditional rakia production. Therefore, it is produced in the same way as its ancestor in 1935, and a grape variety from the 1960s does not fit in. Therefore, only the Misket Cherven variety can be used for the wine from which the rakia is later distilled. This is an ancient vine that is also native to the Sungurlare region. Since, apart from a few other growing areas, it only exists here, it is confusingly also called Misket Sungurlaski. It is characterized by the reddish, pinkish color of the berry skin, which is also referred to by the name Misket Cherven or Red Misket.

Grozden Muskatova Rakija - 1935 and today according to the same original recipe
Grozden Muskatova Rakija comes from the Bulgarian wine producer Vinarska Izba-LVK Grozden, with its headquarters in Sofia and winery in the small village of Grozden, located in the southeastern province of Burgas. The producer has existed since the early 1930s and was part of the agricultural cooperative "Suznanie". This cooperative became famous because Ivan Marinov, the father-in-law of the former Bulgarian President Zhelyu Zhelev, was its founder.

Rakia from the Misket region Sungurlare
The tranquil place of origin of Grozden Muskatova Rakija belongs to the administrative area of the small town of Sungurlare. This is exactly what makes wine and rakia connoisseurs sit up and take notice. Sungurlare is the main cultivation area of various autochthonous Bulgarian grape varieties. First of all, there is the Sungurlaski Misket variety. It is a relatively young new variety, developed in 1966 from a cross between Misket Cherven and Sauvignon Blanc. However, it is not the right choice for Grozden Muskatova Rakija.
