This charming red wine "Estate Stambolovo Merlot & Mavrud 2011" is of intense dark ruby red and very varied and complex in taste. Its sweet and delicate bouquet with traces of black forest fruits, plum and hints of chocolate, caramel and vanilla provides a perfect harmony. The red wine is dry, full-bodied and with a distinct fruity note in taste and character.
The Merlot grape variety is still the only variety allowed to be used for red wines in Bordeaux. It is an early ripening, tannic variety that harmonizes excellently with other grape varieties, such as the Mavrud vine.
The Mavrud vine, as a deep red variety, has mainly small berries, a low yield and also an excellent aroma, which, according to tradition, Odyseuss already appreciated. This old grape variety is cultivated only in Bulgaria. Mavrud wines are the number one on the Bulgarian wine market and have been cultivated for about 4000 years. Unlike Merlot, Mavrud is a late ripening grape variety. The "Estate Stambolovo Merlot & Mavrud 2011" is excellent for storage.

Growing area and winery
The wine growing area is located in the vine belt, between the 40th parallel in the south and the 50th parallel in the north, in the southern wine region of Bulgaria, also called Thracian Valley. Wine was traditionally grown in this region as early as 3000 years ago. Even today, at the foot of Mount Aida, you can see the ancient stone bowls in which the Thracians prepared their famous wine. The brand winery of Stambolovo is the winery of the company Vinprom Haskovo, and the first winery built on the principle of chateau. Here, the wines are aged in oak barrels, thus acquiring their strong aroma and all the taste qualities that characterize this wine. Due to the clear influence of the Mediterranean climate, the region around Stambolovo is also called "Bulgarian Tuscany". Due to the modern cultivation techniques and the gentle processing of the winery, the excellent characteristics of the grape are preserved. Due to the optimal interaction of soil type and vine, in this region, besides Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, an excellent Merlot and Mavrud can be produced.
