Product description

A full-bodied, ripe Cabernet Sauvignon with a long finish from the Zagreus Winery in the Thrace Valley in Bulgaria. In this modern winery, the entire production process takes place from the grape to the bottled wine. Its beginning was in the autumn of 1998, and the entire estate, through expansions, now covers an area of about 120 hectares. Here are grown the varieties Mavrud, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. Since 2010, the vineyards have been operated in accordance with the European Union's guidelines for organic production. The most modern equipment is used here to ensure the production of quality wines, from the mash to the bottling.

Grape variety: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes:
The Cabernet Sauvignon - Zagreus Premium Reserve has a deep, penetrating red color with intermediate purple tones. The red wine brings the taste of peppery spiciness combined with red currant and blueberry. Cabernet Sauvignon - Zagreus Premium Reserve shows a good structure with a masculine character.

Region:
The Thracian Plain is part of the large southern Bulgarian wine region. It is well protected from cold winds north of the Balkan Mountains and further from the south central part of the Rhodopes.

Climate and soil:
Temperate with over 3,000 hours of sunshine during the year and over 110 clear days. Hot, dry summers with warm nights. Soft and warm winters without spring frosts. Sandy-loamy and calcareous soils.

The vineyard for Cabernet Sauvignon - Zagreus Premium Reserve 2006 in Plovdiv Plain, is located in one of the most fertile areas of the country. The soils captivate with colors ranging from a dark red like cinnamon to a bright, light red. Due to the prevailing transcontinental climate, which is characterized by warm winters and hot summers, and the excellent location, the grapes receive a lot of sun. In the period when the grapes are ripening, the sun shines nearly 10 hours a day. The annual precipitation, the average temperatures and the high number of frost-free days, provide optimal conditions for the growth of grapes of the highest quality, as they are for a quality wine.
