Company History of Black Sea Gold Pomorie

Pomorie is a place with a rich and turbulent history and a famous winemaking tradition. Over the centuries, the tradition of the splendid Pompey wines, which were a guest of honor at the royal tables of ancient Troy and the medieval cities of Genoa and Venice, has traveled around the world.

The history of the Gold Sea in the Black Sea began in 1924 - in Pomorie the Bulgarians founded the first wine cooperative "Dimyat". In 1932 the centuries-old experience in wine production gave the Pomorie Winery the self-confidence to become the first modern wine cellar in the city.

In the 1950s, Black Sea Gold gained the image of a modern plant, whose production was highly valued. Twenty years later, the Pomorie Winery has a new opportunity to be proud of: a special cellar with 12,000 oak barrels was created for the ageing of a wine distillate. In 1994, the winemaker imported 8 original distillates from the Cognac region from France, with which Pomorie's "Gold" began to produce the best quality brandies in Southeastern Europe.

The former cellar from 1932 is now the heart of a unique hotel complex for modern wine tourism with a beautiful restaurant, tastings and a museum known to fans of classic wines like the Via Pontica.

In the years 2007-2013 Black Sea Gold is investing more than 5.5 million euros in the construction of a micro vintage. Micro wines (garage wines) is a unique winemaking technology where each process is done manually. It enables the production of high quality wines in limited edition.

The focus is on well grafted vines. They own more than 650 hectares of their own grape varieties of the most famous classic wines. There, all processes are carried out manually - from harvesting, to the fine separation of the grains from the grapes, to the precise sorting of the completely healthy and ripe grape.
