Grapes & Barley Importers History & Nature

Grapes & Barley Importers are experts in Bulgarian wines. With regard to the basic values they strive for a responsible company. They want to change the wine world by changing their industry. The company makes it its business to lead people back to authentic wine. Therefore, they strive to deliver the genuine aromas of grape varieties from all over the world.

The company works hard to fight the current culture of over-processed wine. Since more than half of the wine sold in the United States is sold by one of the three major producers, finding artisan wines can be a challenge. But what is certain is that it is worth the effort to bring them to the customers. G & B Importers is aware that the quality of a wine begins at the source - the grape - and must depend on the winemaker. Monitoring the ripening period of the delicious wine that has been worshipped and enjoyed throughout human history, from the Stone Age to ancient Greece and Rome until now, is essential.

The beauty of nature lies in its diversity, without two grapes looking, smelling or tasting the same. The beauty of wine lies in its unpredictability. Every wine reflects not only the land from which it was grown, but also the personal flair of the hands from which it comes. The variations from vintage to vintage are an expression of the ever-evolving history of each wine and serve as proof of the superior quality of a wine and its closeness to the desires of nature.

G & B Importers cultivated cooperation

Grapes & Barley Importers work exclusively with wineries that share a passion for the heritage of winemaking that respects the naturally favored character of the grape. They believe that the role of the winemaker is to act as a guide. The art of winemaking is subtle and should be based on natural processes, with as little human intervention as possible.

G & B Importers is committed to non-interventionist winemaking from the old world and goes hand in hand with a commitment to the environment. All producers are committed to sustainable cultivation and winemaking practices. Traditional winemaking techniques avoid the use of too much water for irrigation, exclude the use of pesticides and give preference to the harvest over heavy machinery, which is often harmful to the environment and the vines. And it is not only the health of the environment that they look out for, but also the health of their customers. Natural wine contains fewer chemical additives, contains antioxidants and resveratrol and retains a higher nutritional value due to less processing.

Wine shelves are filled with an often overwhelming and confusing selection. Many mass-produced big brands hide behind small brands created by marketers. Grapes & Barley Importers not only tastes every wine, but also every winery they work with to meet producers and winemakers. A wine approved by G & B Importers meets the current standards.

In order to bring the best small and family-run wineries of Bulgaria to the shelves of America, Grapes & Barley Importers travels around the world. Sharing wine means sharing stories. The carefully curated selection of wines reflects the path of discovery while searching for the hidden treasures of the wine world.
