Family distillery Isperih Rakia

Hladilno Tinned Food Combine AD can today be called a family distillery, where father and son Musa work side by side. In 1983 Eng. Orhan Musa began his work path in the former refrigerated canning complex as the chief engineer with 800 employees. After 33 years, he succeeded in transforming and converting the plant into a modern distillery. He continues to work with a modest, highly qualified team.

Every year about 2 million kg of fruit is processed. The harvests are long, starting with the first fruits in May - b- and ending with the last November quinces. The most important are the apricots, from which apricot distillate is made, which makes up the largest part of the production.

Achieving excellence in brandies begins with the selection of fully ripe fruits of the region. Maintaining perfect quality through long-term relationships with carefully selected fruit producers, who must adhere to strict rules for their production.

The fermentation of the fruit is carried out in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, which maximally preserve the fruit's aromas.

It is distilled on Swiss copper pot stills under strict and constant control to ensure a consistently high quality, obtaining pure, intense distillate. The company ensures state-of-the-art technology for the complete removal of all unwanted compounds and guarantees the complete extraction of all fruit aromas.

Success Story Rakia Isperih

The distillery was founded in 1997, when three copper pot stills were brought from Switzerland with the idea to produce a small apricot and plum distillate for Switzerland. In the beginning this was a small workshop which was part of the former Hladilno canning combine, but gradually the company bought more and more fruit and increased its capacity. In 2003 the capacity was increased to five copper pot stills - again two modern copper pot stills were bought from Switzerland. Rakia Isperihs have constantly invested in increasing the capacity for processing and fermentation of fruit. The company has started to produce and export distillates from all traditional fruits of the country.

Hladilno Canning Combine likes to experiment by distilling forest fruits like blackberries, melons, figs, wild pears, chokeberries and other fruits. Today the distillery is the only focus where the future and the children's future lies. The distillery is constantly being developed and modernized. Until today the production is divided into two parts - export of bulk distillates of cherries, apricots, peaches and plums to Western Europe (Switzerland, Germany, Czech Republic etc.) and bottling of high quality rakias (brandy) for Bulgaria and soon for the US market. In 2017 an established Bulgarian manufacturer of distillation equipment, Benkovski Co Ltd, was entrusted to carry out the purchase and installation of a brand new 3 ton copper pot in the distillery.
