About LVK-Vinprom Targovishte

The winemaking philosophy of the Targovishte Winery is to use modern technology to produce world-class wine with an unmistakable fruit character while preserving the unmistakable Bulgarian character. The grapes are carefully selected from vineyards on hillsides below the Balkans. This makes the wines with mild fruit aromas and elegant character accessible.

LVK-Vinprom Targovishte is a winery located in the northeastern wine region of Bulgaria, which consists mainly of hilly and semi hilly terrain. The average altitude is 200m above sea level. The vineyards are mainly planted on grey forest soils. The soils are sandy-clayey in nature. The humus content is high in the surface layer and decreases with depth. Grey forest soils are characterized by a good water and air supply, but not by very high fertility.

The climate is continental mild. The moderate summer temperatures are typical for the region and for the northern and eastern part of the Danube plain. The annual sum of precipitation is 345 to 628 l / m2. The average annual temperature is 11.1°С. The sum of the active temperature is 3500-3700°C.

LVK-Vinprom Targovishte produces white and red wines with guaranteed designation of origin, sparkling wines, liqueur wines and spirits. The winery has four bottling lines with a capacity of 16,000 bottles per hour. This means that 20,000 tons of grapes can be processed annually. The high quality white wines are mainly produced from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Muscat Ottonel and Traminer. The high quality red wines are produced from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

The history of Vinprom Targovishte

Viticulture and winemaking in the Targovishte region date back to ancient times. Various archaeological findings prove the lifestyle and customs of the region in connection with this divine elixir.

LVK-Vinprom Targovishte, inherited the ancient traditions of winemaking in this land. The company was founded in 1947 as a result of the merger of several small wine cellars in the Targovishte area and over the years it has had both periods of recovery and times of need. LVK-Vinprom, which has overcome the difficulties of the present, builds on its long experience and is able to meet the requirements of modern winemaking.

LVK-Vinprom is one of the few companies in the city that successfully restructured its production process during the transition years, maintaining most of its jobs, its positions on the local market and the majority of its foreign customers.

Vinification and Equipment of Vinprom Targovishte

The company has four bottling lines with a total capacity of 10,000 bottles per hour. The modern equipment allows the use of various types of packaging, including 3-liter bag-in-box packaging and 1, 2 and 3-liter PET containers.

Vineyards of Vinprom Targovishte

LVK-Vinprom AD is located in the Danube plain, which has a typical hilly landscape. The vineyards in the region are planted on gray forest soils with a sand-loam structure, suitable for the cultivation and development of high-quality grape varieties such as Traminer, Chardonnay, Muscat Ottonel, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Colombard, Verdejo, Petit Manseng Pinot Bianco, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec Côt, Pinot Gris and Carménère.

The favorable combination of rainfall and sunshine during the growing season and the average altitude of 220-250m are advantageous. The grape harvest reaches an optimal technological maturity from mid-September to the end of October.

In 2005-2010, LVK-Vinprom AD planted 700 hectares of new vineyards in the Targovishte region with the support of European programs that financed agriculture. The majority of the estates are located in the land of the villages of Vradun, Dalgach, Krashno and Kralevo. Up to 90% of the company's needs are met with grapes from its own estates.

The boutique wines of the Cuvee-Prestige line offer a limited selection of selected vineyards with controlled yields of less than 200 kg per day. By limiting the yield of a given area, the vine can concentrate the color, taste and aroma typical of the variety in the fruit.
