History of Bononia Estate

The history of Bononia Estate is like a journey through the centuries, which begins already in the time of the Roman Empire.

In the late 19th century, one of the first breweries was established at the current location of Bononia Estate, but it was forgotten during the transition period. In 2013, at the time of the modern Bulgarian state, the company began its revival, this time as a winery with modern technologies, integrated by a family of people passionate about their country and determined to establish and grow their business here. People who are in love with aviation and firmly believe that you have to unleash your spirit to make your dreams come true.

The young and fast growing Bononia Estate was named after an ancient Roman fortress located in the valley of the Danube, Bononia (modern Vidin). Over the centuries, Bononia first bravely guarded the upper Mizia province and later, after being rebuilt and transformed into the Baba Vida fortress, it proudly guarded the northwestern border of one of the oldest states in Europe, which has kept its name to this day. Bulgaria. This Balkan country is known as the home of the longest mountain range in the region, the Balkans, which gave its name to the entire peninsula, and is also known as one of the first places on the entire continent to begin growing grapes for wine production.
