The Light Castle Winery guarantees the highest quality of its products, thus preserving the tradition and sacred oath of the ancient Thracian vine growers and winemakers. It has 1.9 hectares of certified quality vineyards which are specially planted with high quality certified seedlings. The variety of vines includes: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Sangiovese, Pinot Noir and Tempranillo, and each vine has been selected exclusively for its unique terroir, microclimate and soil characteristics of the region by a team of professional agronomists and regional winemakers. Light Castle Wine Cellar is very proud to be part of the Bulgarian Wine Society and the Bulgarian Wine and Spirit Chamber, and they are working indispensably to preserve this unique Bulgarian feature and heritage, which is worth sharing with the rest of the world.

Light Castle Winery, successfully combines modern technological solutions and oenology, integrating the traditional, proven methods, to produce the best Bulgarian red wines, which have excellent organoleptic characteristics, while preserving the most valuable microorganisms. Since 2009 Light Castle Winery has started a conversion process for the organic certification of all its vineyards. The aim was to create the first all organic winery in Bulgaria. Currently Light Castle has several vineyards that are 100% organic.

Light Castle treats mainly with organic certified products, based on naturally extracted copper and sulphur. Classic technology with prolonged grape maceration and cold skin extraction. Final selection and aging of the best vintage wines exclusively in barriques (225 l) and barrels (400 l) for at least 12 months. In 2009, the Light Castle Winery started the organic certification process. The winery could thus be the first 100% organic Bulgarian winery.

The Light Castle winery is located in the Ivaylovgrad region, with its own vineyards, in the villages of Belopolyane and Svirachi, the south-eastern part of the Rhodope region, with one of the best soil and climate conditions in Bulgaria for the planting of high quality red grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.

The lack of industrial facilities in the region and the unique characteristics of the landscape make the region one of the ecologically cleanest in Bulgaria and Europe. The climate in the region is influenced by the Aegean Sea, which is 60 km away from the vineyards and the Ardas River, which cuts through the mountains and creates a unique airflow dynamic.

The altitude of the country is between 70 and 350m. The annual cumulative temperature is over 4000°C and is the highest measured in Bulgaria. The soil on which the vines were planted can be characterized as Carboniferous black soil with sandy and stony texture and medium erosion - very suitable for vine growing.
