Product description

We applaud the winegrowers who cultivate the land.
The winemakers who make the wine.
The wine lovers who share it.

This dry red wine is made from carefully double hand-picked grapes of early Melnik grape (Melnik 55) - a natural cross between broad-leaf Melnik grape and Valdiguie. Grown in its native terroir - Harsovo, near Melnik, this 10-year-old vineyard has a controlled yield of 7200 kg per ha. The autochthonous grape variety Melnik 55 was harvested in the third week of September at full ripeness and optimal parameters. Fermented in stainless steel tanks, aged for 15 months in new Bulgarian oak barrels, this Melnik 55 has a perfect body for a long pleasure.

Grape variety:
100% Melnik 55 (Early Mature Melnik Vine).

Tasting Notes:
Classy, such a Bulgarian classic! This beautiful ruby red Melnik 55 Reserve impresses with full, rich fruity aromas of ripe black fruits, olives and mocha, underpinned by a fresh, medium body where one senses well-integrated, tight tannins. On the palate it has depth, remains present for a long time and is always marked by lively fruit. The long aging in Bulgarian barrique has provided the AplauZ Melnik 55 with a round, very harmonious and with a long, elegant finish. A very good character wine.

Food pairing:
Game (venison, grouse), pork with cream sauces, lamb with tomato sauce, cheese, pâté.

Awards:
2015 Silver - Decanter World Wine Awards, London.
2015 Silver - Vinobalkanika International Wine Competition, Veliko Tarnovo
2015 Silver - Vinaria, Plovdiv
