Product description

Villa Melnik Melnik Family Tree Limited Edition - An exceptional rarity.
Melnik Family Tree Limited Edition from the top winery Villa Melnik is one of the most exquisite drops you can buy at the moment. The equally expressive and multilayered red wine has the typical thick Melnik consistency and gives itself with fragrant forest aromas of pine, oak and juniper. It is characterized by a full mouthfeel with strong impressions of red stone fruit such as sweet and sour cherries. An experience for wine connoisseurs!

The endemic grape variety Siroka Melniska
The grape variety Melnik or Siroka Melniska is little known in Germany. Yet it is one of the oldest known and still cultivated grape varieties. For many centuries, its occurrence has been limited to a small region around the eponymous town of Melnik in the south of Bulgaria's Struma Valley. The endemic Melnik grape variety is a very late ripening grape. It produces extremely high quality, fruity and spicy wines, rich in tannins and extracts, with high alcohol content.

The whole Melnik family comes together in the Melnik Family Tree
In the 1960s, the effort was to vary ripening times by creating hybrid varieties of the parent Melnik grape. In this way, color and aromas were to gain intensity or complexity, or new nuances, without losing their original character. Not all of these hybrids have survived, but some have managed to hold their own in their area of origin. Melnik Family Tree is a declaration of love to the tradition of the old Melnik grape and its young offspring. The cuvée is based with a share of 40% on the Melnik 55 grape variety, which is now also widespread in the Struma Valley and is a cross between Siroka Melniska and the now rare French grape variety Valdiguié. Melnik 1300 Jubilee, which is descended from Siroka Melniska and the Georgian vine Saperavi, accounts for 30%. In addition, 20% of the mother grape variety Siroka Melniska and 10% Ruen from Siroka Melniska and Cabernet Sauvignon. All varieties were vinified separately and then blended into a cuvée and some of them were aged in barrique.

One of the best wines from Bulgaria
The result is Melnik Family Tree, an outstanding red wine that has won top ratings in various tastings. In the leading Bulgarian trade magazine DiVino, for example, Melnik Family Tree was named one of Bulgaria's 10 best wines from limited editions. Only 450 bottles of Melnik Family Tree were bottled. Do not miss this exceptional rarity.
